Depending what site you look at its rated diff. Anywhere between 300 to 800 gallons is what I've read. I have it on a 180 display & 160 sump. Its the octopuss tdnw 300 skimmer.

LOL I did finish the beer but I put those in the for scale. The coke was for the kids & the beer was for us grown folks.

I honestly don't have a clue. All I know is it is a work horse. I've considered selling it but I'm picking up a marbled cat shark this weekend & figure he'll be messy & it will really come in handy. I'll try & check the watts when I get home.

I wonder if you could put the pumps on timers to reduce power consumption during certain times... I doubt you'd recover the cost of the timers anytime soon given the pump's probable low power requirements, but still... or to decrease wear and tear...
The other nice thing is redundnacy. My skimmer has one huge eheim recirculating pump on it, when the needle wheel went, the entire skimmer was down, I had to pony up cash I really didn't have to spend $$$$$ on a new impeller since it couldn't wait.

That's a good point. I actually didn't even run the skimmer over the summer I just unplugged it & let my tank go for awhile. I'm thinking since I'm getting the shark I'll run the skimmer bi weekly for clean up purposes. Can anyone see a problem doing this?
