Just thought I would post a pic of my new Chocolate Chip Star Fish. I have decided due to the high cost of corals here and very little to choose from to go with a fish, live rock and my few mushrooms in my tank. I know these stars are not reef safe, I hope by keeping him well fed he will leave my mushrooms alone.

Yes it sure is cool. Beides the bad rap they get if you just have fish and live rock they are the neatest things I think. I just love watching him motor all around the tank and over the rock. I don't plan on doing corals as the price here is to dear and I would also need to upgrade my lights. I do have a few mushrooms at the moment that know they could become dinner anytime, but that is fine with me. I am basically aiming at the FOWLR type tank anyways.

Man, corals are cheap in BC compared to Newfoundland! For that reason I do alot of my ordering from J&L Aquatics in BC. Even with the overnight shipping cost, they're still a lot cheaper than buying locally!

Yes J&L does have some good prices, here in our stores we pay double that. I am a 7 hr drive from the area of J&L Aquatics so they would have to be shipped to me. Another reason for not going heavy into corals is I am a stay at home mom. I would be in the dog house from hubby if I ordered some corals that had to be flown in. But then again I really don't mind, the few mushrooms I have is just fine with me. Upgrading my lights from my current coralife PC would have to be done and the list goes on. So I am quite happy with what I have right now.
