Just got it today. It's called Blue Moon Crab according to the LFS. He told me he's not very familiar w/ them, but in his tanks it has been behaving. So I"m going to keep an eye on it and if it behaves, I'd love to keep it :D SO far so good.
If you guys got any info on it, plz feel free to post up .
Thanks

I've never seen one of those before, but it looks very cool! I hope it behaves in your reef!

I got it from a LFS. I had never seen one before either. It looked cool and had nice colors, so I took the chance. So far, it's been behaving very good, but that can also be cuz it's new and shy. We'll see what happens in a few days :D

Yeah that's true. I saw it yesterday mixing sand up w/ it's legs and even submerging its whole body quickly in and out of sand. Looked cool.

Hey i got one of those they dont mess with nothing unless it gets bothered they are rather boring at times but when they get hyper they look like their boxing but make sure you have a well established tank because they eat stuff in your sand. nice pic.

Everyone,
unfortunately my crab died. Well it didn't die, it was eaten by something in my tank. I kept searching for it yesterday and all I found behind the rocks was a pure clean white skeleton, no meat at all. I was shocked.
I haven't fed my lionfish for a few days, cuz I want him to start eating regular fish food, so I'm thinking maybe my lionfish picked at it and ate him ?
I won't attach a pic cuz it's a sad pic, unless you guys want me to hehe :)
There goes $8, oh well

Are you sure it didn't molt? Crabs don't have skeletons, they have shells, and they'll molt out of them and hide. They usually hide very well until their new shell hardens.

I have no clue. All I saw was just bare bones and the claws and no other features. I hope it's molting, but if not, then oh well I learned a lesson. My lionfish is not big enough to swallow that size anything whole.
Well if by miracle it appears again then I"ll assume it was molting and pass on the good news :)

Actually it is referred to as an exoskeleton.

I have kept several dwarf lions and they have never even glanced sideways at a crab.
Also, lionfish won't take bites of things, they don't have teeth to take bites, they swallow whole. So if your lion isn't big enough to swallow the crab whole, then he didn't touch him (I don't think he did anyways).
He's probably hiding for a little after molting, common just before and after molts.
