MY packpak protien skimmer

I have a hang on the back CPR BACKPAK protein skimmer. It releases a stream a micro bubbles that hit the back of the tank and then spread over the whole tank. There were more in the beginning... but they are still there and the tank isn't as clear and bright because of all these bubble. Do I need these bubbles? Does it oxygenate the tank? Could I place a piece of PVC pipe over the stream of bubbles so the bubbles go directly to the top diffuse there?

no you don't want the bubbles in your tank... I would do anything you can to not have them...

I have a hang on seaclone skimmer. It puts out bubbles for the first 20 minutes after feeding my condy or messing with my tank, but usually stops produceing large amounts after the 20 minutes. It is difficult to not produce any bubbles when you are not going through a sump. I would consider looking into a different model skimmer if you feel like the amount of bubbles produced is extreme. Seaclones are cheap, but if I did it over again I would spend the extra $$ for an octopus or remora, both are in the $150-$200 range.

It will stop after the skimmer breaks in, give it some time to build up some "slime". Also, if you are using any type of water conditioner(dechlorinator, stress coat etc.) it will drastically increase the amount of bubble production.

cpr bak pac they sell a bubble trap box also. i use one and it works plus its a nice little space to keep my chaeto ...

yea Im thinking about makeing an elevtaor system. They bublles will be sprayed right into this pipe and are trapped with only one way to go and that is up and out. Thanks for all the replys
