Yesterday my bubble tip anemone was getting the life sucked out of him he was on my power head the poor thing i was so upset , i don't know how long he was on it for but yea he didn,t look so well when i got him off of it . Then today one of my crabs was eating parts off of him i think he was dieing so i though it best to remove him has this happened to any one else ? And how can you stop it from happening again. Iheard if something like that dies in your tank it can bomb your tank.

It happened to me. If it happens again don't pull the anemone off. Turn off the PH and let it work itself out.

if it gets sucked in and chewed up by your powerhead, you're in trouble. never put your hand in the water, all the stinging cells that are in the bubble tips will be in the water and is supposed to be quite dangerous.

I had one that got chewed up and I didn't get stung, but after thinking about it would make sense. But wouldn't the cells die away from body?

cnaidarian nematocysts can still sting for a short time outside of the body of the animal....mostly triggered by a cillia outside of the opening which causes a change in pressure and the "stinging" mechanism released

ITs not dangerous, the stinging nematocysts arnt that powerful, It happened to me, but unlike you, I wasnt luckyenough to be there on time, mine got turned into a smoothie. But since, I have gotten a new anemone, and have learned that when an anemone is on the move, put filter pad over the opening.

happened to me yesterday- The PH fell off the glass and landed on it- I had just looked at the tank ten minutes earlier so I knew he hadn't been on there long, I turned the PH off and within a couple of hourse he looked back to normal- :joy:

For the cost of a 'brand name' single powerhead filter, i bought the rectangular foam filter replacements for canisters, cut a slice through/down the middle and slid over each intake. This makes the water suck from a larger circumfrence and is not as concentrated, thus it is MUCH harder to get somemthing stuck to it other than floating particles. You also dont lose any or an extremely minimal GPH flow rate, I've done this after i loss my first anemome to a PH on its 3rd day in the tank, and 2 green chromis a few days after they were added. It works great, I've noticed the same amount of water current flowing and no dead animals
