Try posting "need help with ich" in the disease section. Don't panic, happens to the best of us. what else is in the tank, any inverts? That will make a big difference in what you should do.

OH, duh.
We dont know what else he has in there. If the 2 clowns are it, I'd rather not move them.

well, i don't think you should ever do hypo in the display tank, it'll kill the LR and LS too... that'll start a cycle, and it'll just be one big mess.

That would be assuming he has LR and LS. He has not said anything about his filtration or what else is in that tank. We know his PH, SG, and trates, and thats it.
I dont give advice until I have all the facts.

hypo would even kill the bacteria in his filter, though. i would NEVEr do hypo in the display. It's just so much easier in a qt, although getting them out of the tank is going to be a PAIN!

i have 15 pounds of live rock about 20 hermits and 2 emeralds. my LR is doing great but i dont have another tank to perform a hypo. my buddy who has been caring for a salt tank forever said to give them a quick dip in fresh water no more than 2 min and then add this herbal rid ich he said would work with out killing my inverts and my LR he also suggested raising my temp to 80 F. any ideas if this is the way to go??? btw i have a cascade 200 it is only a 20 gallon tank

Make sure the fresh water is the same temp and PH as the tank. that would have to be over 82d. QTs dont have to be an actual aquarium

FW dips do nothing for ich. At this point a FW dip will probably do nothing but stress the fish more. I keep my tank at 81 all the time, and I've had ich before so I don't think raising the temp gets rid of it. IDK what herbal med you're referring to but generally they are useless. Can you get a 10 gallon, cheap heater, PH and set up a QT? If you can, get a sponge (like you would put in your filter) and put it in your main tank for a few days too get populated with good bacteria. Then put the sponge in your QT to help avoid the cycle.
As Jen said, I would NEVER do hypo in my main tank.

i agree. Inverts can survive a short lived freshwater dip, so hypo is your best bet. A qt tank should cost you all of $30 or so...

oh, and make sure the sponge isn't like pre-treated with any kind of soap or cleaning stuff... some sponges come with soap already in the pad... that would be a bummer!
