I hadda rare photo op this morning...when he ran outta his usual hole to grab a piece of shrimp. Now he is under a rock right in the very front of the tank. Its awesome to beable to see him all the time right now.

nice lobster...pretty colors
they're tough little buggers to get out of a tank, so I hope you like him a lot! (I just got mine out a couple of weeks ago...took me forever!)

How big do they get? Are they easy to keep? I wouldn't mind getting rid of my pistol shrimp for once since all he does in hide under my LR and I'm always afraid of the structure crashing down when he moves out too much substrait.

I had a lobster eat a perfectly healthy fire goby.
The fire goby always slept by this rock and the lobster moved in there and ate fire goby.
Here is a pic.

I have no idea how big they get..and he eats just about anything I put in there. Squid and raw shrimp seem to be his favs. He has lots of rockwork too. I havent caught him killing anything important yet ..however I only have one bottom dwelling fish. Its a orange diamond gobey. Ive had them both together in there since Dec. The gobey doesnt have a set hole he stays in...he is constantly moving the sand around and is always somewhere different. That could be why the lobster hasnt gotten him yet. I cant say he hasnt eaten any hermits or snails, because I dont know.
Thats a good pic Phoenix! Did you go ahead and get rid of him after he ate your fire gobey?

yeah, i took him back that day, i didn't want anymore fish to get eaten.
i woke up and turned on the lights and he was in his hole with half a fire goby hanging out.
i got that pic while i was trying to get him out.
i had to take the tank apart to get him and my girlfriend said we should get a picture.
wish i could have another, but not in my 29, maybe when i get a bigger tank so he could have more room.

That's my plan with my lobster. He's in my 5g hex right now awaiting his return to the LFS. He was a fish killer of the worst kind!! And it took me so long (I was trying for a couple of weeks) to get him out of my reef. Finally, after sitting in the dark for a couple of hours with a bottle trap, I got the little monster.
They are very pretty, but I wouldn't trust one again. BTW, they get to be about 6 inches long maximum size if they molt properly. They are very easy to keep.
Good look Saltymom....!

I've had mine for 6 months now with no problems. He even hangs out by my royal gramma's home. Hopefully you'll have the same luck as myself:yes:
