Sorr to hijack your thread......
how long did it take for your brittle star to get acclimated to your tank. I got mine last Sunday and it's hiding under a piece of lr. I'm afraid it not going out and looking for food a night when the lights are off. So I've been hand feeding it some algae paper.
:nervous:
Cool general:D Where's your salute son?:D

I acclimated them for 6hrs.
It took a few days for them to get used to the tank and tank mates, but they generally stay hidden during the day. Then they come out and run around at night...or at feeding time.
Of the two, the larger one seams to be the most active around the tank...The smaller one hides in the holes of the live rock during the day and only comes out with the lights off..

I hope you don't have any fish with those 2 evil stars

I have 10 damsels, which aren't gonna get caught by those stars.
They zoom around the tank, so there is little to no chance of them getting caught.

He is big, about 5in across. Almost the size of my hand.
I do hand feed him shrimp, and he stays on the glass normally.
He moves pretty fast, but he is so nice looking, i couldn't resist getting him.

Nothing wrong with keeping a red general with fish. Won't do anything to them. I've had mine for over a year, also large (5" across as well). I just hand feed it a chunk of shrimp/krill twice a week. If you put it up against the glass with the food, you can watch him swallow it whole. He has killed about 3 of my snails though. Other than that, he just ignores everything else.

Do you feed live or froozen or Freeze Dried Shrimp/krill.

Most stars are NOT reef safe.
Also even if they are reef safe, there is no telling if they will decide to munch on corals.

I feed a sizeable chunk of frozen krill once a week.
And evilss, yes most stars are not reef safe. Some of the linka's are, and brittles. But definitely not the red general... :)
