my sand is moving..

hello,
looking at my tank today and i saw a 2x2 inch of what i thought was sand movin..
i watch and see almost 200 baby snails.. they all have shells and i think they are snails. after watching them crawl all over each other in a pile they gave me goosebumps and i walked away..
has anybody ever had this? or anything like this? i have had no snails until now..

never had it happen with snails, but I have with tiny starfish I've seen about 15 in my tank so far.
yeah, i have so many of them all over my glass in my tank. i cant even count how many of them are in my tank.
