hey how are you guys doing. long time since posting a thread. ok for everyone to know i have a 30 gallon for one year that is a soft coral and lps tank. well i am upgrading to a 55 gallon in the move that will house sps and variety of mushrooms ricordeas clams zoos butt no leatherxs do to there chemical output.
i am making my own stand and buying a 55 gallon 4' by 12" by like 14"or something and i now havve the 48" coralife aqualife mh kit with a total of 500 watts = a 10wpg on the tank
whatis sps needs i am gona have 5 ph on the pic below 4 moving side to side and one pointing up making small waves in the center. i know they are sensative and i have good enough lights and circulation but what else. i have already taking care of the clams. the sps probly need more. info regarding any of my stuff will be appreciated.

have you ever thought of a bare bottom tank, this might help with keeping the water quality good for a heavily skimmed sps tank. you are trying to mimic the conditions of a reef crest where there is allot of flow and poor nutrients, so to help you can go b.b. and monitor the amount of detritus in your tank and either skim it out or syphon it off the bottom.

well i was looking into stability as a major need and a pretty deep sandbed would make the ph stable, make my tank look better and let me have ground dwelling gobbies. anyone else have a comment?

What do you have planned to supply calcium/alkalinity??
Stability is very important. Do all that you can to keep temp, PH, ca, alk etc swings to a minimum. Also you need very low PO4s. Phosphates hinder calcification and therefor slows growth. You will also want to keep the nitrates low... other than that it's just like runniing a normal tank. HTH

yeah i am already adding addedtives to my tank.. is that your question will stufff like reefbuilder or calcium addatives(sp) be alright?
btw this is rubbersducky only at my cousins house.
