My skimmer looks like its not working

I have a prisim skimmer. I took it apart a few weeks ago to clean it and i hae everything back jsut like it was its pulling water in and everything. I started to get the cyano bacteria (red stuff) and my fish guy said to turn up the skimmer. Well as i remember before, if i had the skimmer too high water would start flowing into the top compartment fast and i would have foam. I have the thing all the way up and ther is no foam and the water itsnt getting high enough to even flow into the top to collect. Any ideas?

i could never get my prizm deluxe to work right. I traded it for an insump design. Good luck though i've heard they work great!! I was just too impatient

Thats the weird thing it was working great till i cleaned it. Ever sence then is when ive noticed the red blanket of bacteria growing

well usaully when you take them apart and clean them it seems like it has to go through the new cycle thing again. mine does this when i clean it but usaully the next day its working great again. i also had a prizm pro and thought it didnt work good now i got a super skimmer and love it
