you did not mention what type a skimmer you have, but if you have a venturi type you need to do a air adjustment, the less air flow you have the more water flow you will have, which then you will need to open your air valve more. If you have another style skimmer, I can't help you..lol sorry no experiance with any other style skimmer.

what is going on is your water flow is too strong and the bubble/water contact time is not enough for it to properly collect and remove the organics

i have a red sea prizm, and i was having problems before because i had the skimmer for 3 months, and never had anything in the cup. i was given advice on this board on what to do, and now it seems i am getting WAY to much overflow in the cup. could it possible be this dirty in my tank. i am getting some gunk.

Depending on what skimmer you have, you need to adjust the air flow or the height of your collection cup. And also, cut down on the stress coat, you probably using way to much of it that's why it keeps on skimming like crazy. <img src="graemlins//urrr.gif" border="0" alt="[urrr]" />

you are probably correct with the stress coat, i used alot yesterday during a water change. should i just let it be? or is there something i could do to take out the stress coat if its harming things? maybe a water change?

just let it be. but the next time you do your water change dont put any more stress coat. a little probably but not way too much.

I think when you do a water change it is a good idea to use stress coat, but that will affect your skimmer to overflow so either turn it down or off for 5-6 hrs after use of stess coat
