Is this common. I dont know how I spotted this but I was looking around my 75 gal and noticed a snail grazing on algae and I thought I noticed something on him. I moved him from the back to the front of the glass to look and see what it was...sure enough I see a mini feather duster pop out of a tiny hole in his shell. is this common?? I thought it was really cool!!

They don't get bigger to my knowledge but they do spread and flourish when fed properly... Thats really awesome!!! I wish I had a snail like that :)

you dont have to feed a duster that size. the "feather" grabs nutrients out the water. Feather dusters seem make a home anywhere. I have one that lives in the center of a hammer coral I just bought. everytime the fan comes out the hammer tries to sting it and everytime they touch it it shoots back in the center of the hammer then right back out. they do this all day long. every coral I've bought no matter how small the rock it came on (or in case of the hammer no rock at all just its base) has a feather duster in it. I must have about 30+ small ones at this point

I also have a feather duster on one of my snails. I saw it for the first time about a month ago. Tonight I noticed one of my hermit crabs has a duster on it. These things seem to be popping up everywhere.
