my snowflake died

my snowflake hadnt eaten in the past two days but i didnt think anything of it because i know they can go pretty long without food. Then today i went to feed my fish and didnt see Kim Joung Eel (that was his name). I serched around for a bit and saw a little bit of him. I gave him a nudge with the bamboo feeding stick and he was all rigamortisy and blue. Im not entirly sure why he died. All other fish are fine so im assuming it is not the levels but im about the check anyways. I think he died because all i have been feeding him is krill. I have tried tons and tons of tiem to feed him silversides, squid, clams. All he will eat is krill. i tried feeding krill then a piece of silverside. he ate it in agression but then imidiately spit it out. Ive also been putting in garlic extream about once a week or so for mor vitamins but i guess that wasnt enough.
can you see anything else that is wrong?
here is my set up:
29 gallon eclipse (he was going into my larger tank once he was fat enough to not fit through the eggcrate.... i got him in feb and he was only about 13 inches or so)
300 gph powerhead.
bio-wheel
keep the heat at 78-80
about 30 pounds of live rock
crushed coral substrate
and ill get back you guys with levels
i guess what im asking is will a year of feeding him one type of food with some vitamin dosings (garlic extream) enough to malnurish my eel?
the fact that he is blue makes me thing that maybe he drowned either by not having enough O2 in the water (but there is 18X turnover rate and the bio wheel) or he got himself stuck under a rock. his head that is.

here are the ones ive tested so far
amonia:0
SG: 1.026
and the krill was also Hikari brand. it says it has added vitamins. But i even tried feeding him raw shrimp from the grovery store. he wouldnt even eat that, but he would eat krill. thats how picky he was.

I am very sorry to hear about this. Is there a reason you named him after the North Korean dictator? You know the fat guy who's really fat, has some serious hair issues, and is so short that he has to wear platform shoes? LOL. I suppose I better keep my mouth shut. I don't want him coming after me when I fly to Seoul, South Korea next week. LOL. *ahem* Sorry.

yeah i thought of that. he was kinda blueish-pale.
And that also came to my mind because i jsut changed my bulbs so i no longer have an actinic, so that was wierd. But im not sure if it could have just been the paleness. its not like it was realy evident.

Okay, you, the defendant, have been found guilty of naming your fish after really weird people. LOL, kidding. If your snowflake had been wedged under a rock, it would have taken effort to get him out. I am not really sure about the cause of death, I am a reefer, just trying to help out. Wait until someone who does aggressive fish comes along...

i would have thought it would be difficult too.... but my hermits got to him before i did. So maybe they aided in the process a little?
nitrite: .2; but i guess that is at least a little expected after loosing a fish in a 29.
checking nitrate now. And i dont ahve a pH tester cause i ran out not long ago and for some reason my LFS didnt have any when i checked today :notsure:

Yeah, I dont think water quality is a huge issue in this case. I am puzzled as to this eel's death. Nothing is making sense. I honestly can't think of a reason why he would have died. True, he didnt have the best diet in the world, but that wouldnt cause him to be pale and blue.

and their names go with their personalities. Peter Paker looksl ike a spider. Osama digs caves and hides in them. And nepleon is the only fish in a 40 reef. so he pretty much thinks he owns everything.
but thanks for your help.

me either. im just posting cause ive been here long enough to know that is what people always ask for first.
nitrate: about .15
well after any fish dies he is going to turn pale. im not entirely sure how blue it was. it could have been the lighting of the room or whatever. It was jsut a little bit pale, possibly a little blueish tint. But it isnt like he was all out blue

Here is an idea . I'm not saying this is what happened but this could be a cause. Eel's like to hide under rock and move sand around under there . I have seen my SFE pushing sand out with his tail. Maybe the rock yours was under became unstable and shifted a tiny bit. not enough to send everthing moving but just enough to pin it down and crush it to the point of not being able to breath.
Yet again just my guess

it is very possible. The rock he was under was small. but there are other rocks on top of it. Usualy he leaves all the digging up to my diamond goby, but it is very possible that he would do this.

Between digging and water curents moving the sand around it wouldnt take too much to cause a slide
