IMO 4 days is not too bad yet. Have you tried any algae sheets? Or if you have a refugium with algae in it try some of that. (not chaeto though, I don't think it will eat that)

In a reef your fish have more to eat than what you feed them. Put an algae sheet on a clip and quit worring. If the fish hasn't eaten in days it would not be swimming around all happy and nipping at the algae on the rocks.
Eating the algae off the rocks is food for a tang. He will find the algae sheets. Stop feeding pellets or flakes, it just pollutes your tank.

Do you have any sushi restarants nearby? See if they will sell you the seaweed sheets that they use in making sushi. You can also find them in oriental food stores and some grocery stores.
Pellets and flakes are bad news overall for your tank. If you can't find frozen foods easily (this poster is from Iran) it is very easy and cost effective to make your own.
With this being a larger tang, most likely he was captured as an adult so he is used to getting his food by grazing. Commercial and prepared foods will be very foreign to him. Older fish can be alot more difficult to transition as the younger ones.
I also recomend strongly finding the seaweed sheets and putting them in your rockwork to introduce them to him in as natural a way as possible.
If he is pecking at the rocks, he is getting some nurishment so don't panick yet but I would get the seaweed as soon as possible as it may take him a little bit to try them.
