My Sunpod MH Arrived! - Review

Hey everyone! So at first I bought the stock Aquapod 24 gallon. It got the job done, but I wanted to go SPS, so I bought this beast of a light. I got the 150 watt version.
So the Current-Usa Sunpod was packaged very well. The instructions for setting it up were simple and descriptive. Heres for the visual difference. My PC's used to barely light up that water, and the hood was not very ventilated. The Sunpod lights up the WHOLE corner of the room (its in my bedroom). The moon lights do a decent job of making up for the lack of actinics. It seems you can "warm" up the corals to the daylight, and get them opened, and turn on the MH with little/no problems.
I would highly recommend this to anybody who is looking to make the upgrade. Theres no way you could be unsatisfied with this fixture.
PS- The 20" Sunpod fixs the 24 gallon tank very well. The docking mounts are on a slider, so you could adjust it, for even smaller tanks. Thanks for reading!

I took off the hood. It wasnt too hard, its on my plastic brackets that snap out of place. I paid 250$ shipped UPS Ground.
No glass cover, my jets dont cause a splash, so I see no purpose. Plus it could cause less light to get through if it gets too salty.

WOOOOOOOO SWEEEEEET!!!!!

I know!!! I took pictures but it wont let me upload them. I also got a small montipora frag at a different LFS for 5$!! Its in really bad shape though, but I know it can pull through. The only concern I have is that it was in such bad lighting that I hope it doesnt bleach in my tank. Its about 1" off the sandbed right now, attached to a rock. So hopefully it doesnt, and recovers.

I would suggest never run a glass hood on a tank with a halide. it cuts away some of the light and will heat the tank alot since the heat cannot escape.
Current makes good products.

thats something different. You need that to block the UV rays from the DE light.
I am taking about dont have a glass hood on the tank covering the water. You need that small glass shield on the light. Those UV's can damage corals and fish..almost like being sunburned

On the fixture itself, is a glass bulb cover. Thats to keep water from getting in and shorting it out. Kind of like a splash guard too. My water doesnt really splash, so the guard will stay clean, giving me the most PAR rating I can have.
I think runner might be talking about something different though...not sure.

250w isnt to much if you want some acros and such..if your not going to have them then now. if you already got a 150w hqi 24g then i wouldnt waste my money..hell thats plenty for acros as well
