I thought that's what it's called, as I'm thinking about getting one myself. However, I was told you need an established tank, 6 months or older, before adding any starfish. How old is your tank?

how long have you had the star?
how long did you acclimate for?
Stars need long acclimation times of at least 4 hours, and a SG of 1.025 - 1.026.
from what i've read, fromia and linckia need a tank of over a year old with over 100lbs of liverock.

exactly what i was thinkin! and i thought i was gunna have to be the one to rain on his parade...also..if u look at the sandbed you will se a sandsifting star..which also needs a mature tank..otherwise they clean ur sand until no food is left and they starve ever soo slowly..it can take up to a few months before they actually kill over

yes, the sandsifting star is actually not a good idea. didn't want to say it. they will eat all of your microfauna and then die.
Although, in my opinion....a big tank over 200 with a heathy sand bed might would work.
