I got these guys at the beginning of July. They are finally starting to come out fully everytime I feed.

Great job!:D How bout some details on how you got em trained so well. I just got some about two weeks ago and obviously have a ways to go but whatever you're doing obviously worked.

i have found out , that direct feeding of brine and formula one(frozen) thawed works great. i have them now for 5 mths. easy to keep, for me anyway. feed them twice a week.

They are reliant mostly on external feeding, and can handle larger prey items, i.e brine shrimp, other frozen, live foods. Keep current high, calcium up and remember to feed. The dont need bright light, but will grow in it as well.

Thanks! That's what I've been doing so I guess I'm on the right track. I paid only 8 bucks for mine about the same size as that one.

Mine opened from the day i got them, but only at night (i look before i go to bed, tanks lights are usually out for a couple hours prior). I kow they are a nocturnal coral, are your opening in the daytime? if so, im interested in how you trained them-- everyone asks- "whats that orange dead coral under that shelf?" and they go 'ok... yeah sure" when i tell them its really really pretty, but it only comes out at night. :)

I have one with about 60 heads on it. I trained mine by putting it in a bucket everyday for the first 2 weeks and feeding it in there. Once they started to open up in about 10 minutes I started feeding them in the aquarium. They are pretty creatures!!

nice sun corals! i have some myself. i dont understand that bucket thing, Chris L. you take them out the tank and into a bucket? beings that they are deep water corals, you take them in and out of the water?
i use a turkey baster to direct feed them. i use brine shrimp and the frozen formula one cubes, too. i can't wait for mine to all open up beautifully as yours did, DINHOUSE.
:D

Yes, I took them out of the water and put them into a bucket of tank water to do my training. Thawed a cube of brine shrimp, used the juice to entice them with a turkey baster and then gave them the brine shrimp after they opened.

What I did is use a syringe (without the needle) and I would just squirt a little food in the tank so they could smell it. When I noticed them beginning to open up a little I turn off my powerheads and directly feed the ones that were out. Eventually they all started to come out when food hits the water. They will come out now anytime with or without lights. But I have noticed they extent quite a bit more when the lights are out . I got mine online for $16. They are really cool corals and well worth the patience.

there is another way to feed the suncorals with out having to take them out of the tank cut a 2 liter in half and use the top half and place around the coral and put the food inside and place the lid to the pop top back and give it about 20 minutes to feed then take the top off and pull the bottle out :)

That sounds like a great idea. If I would happen to get another one I will have to try that. Thanks for the info.
