My Tusk and Fire Shirmp have an understanding

Ok...i just got a harliquin tusk little more then a week ago....today i saw him swim up to my fire shrimp and get cleaned....isn't he supposed to eat him not use him for his purpose in my tank.....not that i'm not happy about it....just wish i would have had a pic of it....anyone any similar experinces or ever heard of this?

Fire shrimp are related to the common cleaner shrimp. Mine do a cleaning number on the fish all the time. Some predators recognize helpful animals and won't eat them. Keep him well fed and hopefully your tusk won't be interseted in eating the shrimp.

your tusk may have done two things
you had the shrimp in there before the tusk so he may relize its not food.
or he might have relized that its a cleaner species
it really depends on the tusk
mine would tear apart any shrimp that enter the tank
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm 30$ snacks
