Posted this on another area but got no replies. This should be the proper area...
Hi, Ive had this for about one week and finally was able to take some photos. This rock has a great variety of colors. Blue, White, Yellow, Red, and I saw Purple for the first time today. I have a 10g tank and 45 watt pc lighting so I hope the porites dont die off. They look to be doing fine so far.

That is really pretty. I don't know much about xmas tree coral/worms. I think the porites need MHs tho.

You should look into the needs of porites IMO. X-mas tree worms can only survive in LIVING coral tissue. they bury into them and can live up to 70 years! So hopefully the porites won't die off

Ive been feeding phytoplankton once a week. The rock cost me $50. I was told that I got a good deal on it. If they do in fact live for 70 years that would be really awesome! I have one feather duster thats purple... Is that a rare color? I want to eventually get MH but for now the PC's seem to be doing fine. I havent seen any of the porite deteriorate and am monitoring it in case something does happen. I wonder how the feather dusters propogate?

They can survive for awhile on rock, but they will ONLY set themselves when sporing on a coral bed. If the coral dies then so will they after a time. Might be a day might be a year might be ten I really don't know that but they are symbiotic of each other (at least the xmas to coral, but not coral to xmas).
