My yellow tang has a black dot on each of his sides next to his gills

I just bought this yellow tang 2-3 hours ago and was very scared and hid all around my tank. My coral beauty angelfish was picking on him a little bit and tailed him away and he got scared and hid. I read about new fish and to turn off the lights so I do and it calmed them down but just recently I went to see if he was ok and I noticed 2 black dots through his skin and I don't know what it is or if its going to kill him.

When you say black dots I am assuming a more grayish color...decent size...means he is stressed.

Its can also be due to the lights off. At nt mine turns a brownish color which is normal. But yours is new and scared give it time

Please give details about the black dots. And are they still there when you turned the lights back on?

How large are the black dots? If they're pinpoint sized then it could be a parasitic flatworm.

There 2 big light black dots with white line through them I never owned a tang before, but I did some research and all they say is its a disease.

I just checked on him a few minutes ago and he's now completely yellow and swimming freely in my tank

Did you observe this when lights were out? What is the size? Salt grain, or quarter? If it was like a dark shadow on either side of the tang while lights were out and the fish was dormant, then this is just natural coloration for the fish while it reposes. If black salt size dots, then it could be black ick which is not related to white ich.

I noticed them when I turned off the lights and they are quarter size and I looked up the night camo they had and it is the once you guys told me thanks so much, I never knew or owned a tang so I didn't know they had that night defense.

Fox face do the same thing at nt or when stressed. Lol
