my yellow tang is a little pale?

My yellow tang is a little pale white on his sides what is this and how do I get him back to being all yellow

He has black spot disease, which is a parasite. It is also known as "black ick". This variety of parasite, however, is not the same as ick, nor is it as deadly.
You need to treat with daily formalin bathes at threaputic levels. Keeping the fish in the bathe for about 30 mins. Do you have a separate hospital tank? What is this fish's diet and how long have you had him?

i feed flakes and formula one frozen, i have had him for a month but he just doesnt look good, with the black spots and being a little pale, I do not have a qt, what now

beth, also his lips seem to be frosted with white <img src="graemlins//eek.gif" border="0" alt="[eek]" />

Although I really dont like freshwater dips it does get rid of black spot which is actually a worm parasite. As far as the overall condition of the tang diet and water conditions need to be very good to keep yellow tangs happy. What are your water readings? You really need to get some greens in your tang's diet. Like green Seaweed Selects also soak the food in Zoe a few times a week.

water was at amm 1.5 now back to 0 trites at 0 and i still need to get a test for trates, ok so flake formula one frozen and now i need to get some seaweed selects for his diet should i feed it in a certain pattern. how do you do a fw dip
