And I could use some seasoned help. Several months ago, I noticed a small < about the size of a small pea > round *thing* < for lack of a better word> growing in amoungst my live rock. it looked exactly like a shiney black pearl! Obviously i knew it wasn't. but I also knew it wasn't just a strange shape of live rock. It was/is pretty. Round, shiney gun metal blue/gray in color.
Well...it started to grow and it continues to gro. not moving and not showing any signs of life except for the growth. It's now at least 5 times the size it was when I first spotted it. I've touched it *gingerly*. It feels solid. It must be some kind of egg sack? Or what else could it possibly be? This has me stumped. kids say it's probably an alien! ;0)
Can anyone ID this thing for me and tell me whether it is o.k. for my tank or if perhaps this thing will be a predator or explode and send a toxic substance into my tank! It's grown almost as big as it can given it's located between two rocks. It's just barely touching the other rock now so it really has no where else to go.
I'd love to know what this alien , at least to me> thingy is in my tank and what if anything to do about it.
I uploaded 3 pics of it in a folder called, *Mystery Thing*.
Thanks in advance to any that can shed some light on this for me.
