Okay so I bought from the LFS and she had no idea what they were
. I asked and she said she could find out and let me know Saturday at the local group meeting
. So I am enlisting the help of my friends here to see what you all say

There doing great BTW and I have had them about a week or two now! There eating and doing well active wise and eating. I have been keeping an eye on my male as you can see he was about to pop in the photos
but now seems smaller then the pics
I hope I didn't miss the birth and that they were eaten somehow before I got the goby out of the tank
I guess all I can do is wait and see now :) Hoping for the best still and will keep you all informed.
So now until that update lets play name that species

All pics taken were when they were in there temp tank. They are not in an all rock tank as it looks!

The male has definitely got the look of an h. kuda; I'm not so sure on the female.
She seems a bit spiny for the kuda? And her coronet is more upright.
Can you clearly count the points to the coronet?

Hah, I was just lamenting the lack of pics on your other thread! +1 on the male Kuda, probably the female as well, but I'm leaning more towards H. reidi.
Here's a question: is the female in the picture the babymama? If so, and I never thought of this....will two differing species breed freely? Cause that will definitely help us narrow it down!

Novahobbies,
I am not sure who the babymamma is. When we bought these two there were also two others. I think another black and then another yellow as well but not sure on that. The pregnant one was preggo when I got him so no idea who he bred with. Who knows LOL the other I have may not even be a female!
PonieGirl,
Coronet? What exactly is that. I have no problem trying to count them just need to know what they are. Not so scientific when it comes to the pet babies!

Coronet: the crown-like section on top of the head. She wants you to count the spikes (cirri) on the top of the horse's head.
Sorry ponygirl, I just had an "ooh,ohh..I know, I know!!) moment. I'll go back to my corner now....

Sorry, the cirri have nothing to do with the coronet. Cirri are just little fleshy appendages that some horses have while others don't.
A reidi's coronet is crumpled....

While a kuda's coronet tilts back....

nice looking horses.
you do know that the babies can not be raised with the parents, they need special food and a rearing tank on thier own. kuda and reidi are the hardest to raise.
Talk to cranberry, I bet she could give you some pointers.

Novahobbies, apologizing for what?
From Cranberry-"Cirri are just little fleshy appendages that some horses have while others don't." Cirri, or spines, are pronounced in other seahorses, however kuda tend to be "smoother" skinned than.
The yellow seahorse, yes, a female, in Shaunalynna's photo does not seem to have the smoothness (lack of cirri).
Shaunalynna, be sure to google "seahorse anatomy". You will be a happier keeper being familiar with the parts and functions on the seahorses.

Well judging by the pics you posted and I THANK YOU and everyone for everything they have done. I finally believe there Kuda's! Am I correct? I wish I could have figured that out easier then opening a debate LOL.

Babies were born today or so what we thought were the babies. Take a look at my new post! What I was setting up for them didn't get done before they arrived. I am thinking it is babies anyhow, but pictures make them look bigger online. Check the post out and please help!

So it was decided I guess that I have Kudas? A black male and yellow female. Could still be something else but hoping I am right and opinions welcomed on this still until it is closed and I know for sure
