It dosen't look an anenome, but some type of polyp rock, maybe you should have done a little homework before you bought it. I may be wrong but I think polyp rock. Maybe someone else can help you better.

Did your LFS tell you this was an anemone?
It looks like a star polyp cluster to me...coral...not anemone.

I agree...I should have done my hw :( The guy who was helping me out did say anemone when he was doing a price check...so I was under the impression that he knew what he was talking about, but I guess not. here's a close up pic if you need it...

Hey give it chance, make sure you provide all the nutrients to your water without polluting it. Check your water parameters and you just might bring it back :p

gonipora (sp) have a set life span. once they start to die it is pretty much over with. in most case i have read about they live for about 2-3 years at max and then just die.

Yes we all have one "LFSI"=(local fish store idiot) LOL

That can't be good. It looks better now than when I bought it from them. I checked out the water yesterday and everything was normal except the calcium level, it was above 500mg...but then again it was a color comparison test...only there was no color to compare it to. The test just said add drops untill test water turns pure blue. I think I'll have it tested at a LFS tomorrow.
Lol-LFSI....I like it ;)

Always do your homework on anything you buy...it will save you lots of $$. Don't rely on your lfs unless you trust them. Most workers just want a paycheck and don't care about the livestock let alone know anything about them.goodluck.

Well then in that case does anyone know a good website with good pictures and info on all types of coral? I need to soak up some more info before I buy anything else. And thanks to everyone that helped!

This board is it, did you say your cal was 500? sounds high but I'm not experienced enough to know. I thought 400 to 420 was enough for corals. anyone?

500 is high. not very high, aroung 400 is where you want to be. at one time mine was at 750. not a good thing. if you stay at 500 for an extended period of time bad things could happen. a water change should be able to bring it down to acceptable levels, unless you are dosing it.

I know...the test was inconclusive since my calcium test does not test over 500mg. Tonight I will do a re-test to see if I did anything wrong. And if that doesn't work out I will buy a different cal test, one that I can compare the color to

I was just thinking maybe my current is to strong for my gonipora...and maybe I should move it to somewhere with a weaker current. I turned off my fluval and the stalks of it stood straight...and everything else about it looks healthy. Could this be the problem, or should it sway in the current:confused:
