nano cube 12 Light help

I got this nano cube 12 with the regular hood and when i plugged in the light and turn it on the light doesnt come on. The fans come on but not the light..I thought the bulb was broken so i got a brand new one and it still doesnt work. When i shut the switch off it flickers a little bit. Does it have to power up for a while before it comes on? Any help would be great. Thanks

Is this the JBJ Nano-Cube 12? If so, did you get the standard or deluxe model? The deluxe comes with two flourescent lights rather than one.

It should come on almost instantly. I'd first suspect a weak connection at the connectors from the hood. Make sure those are tight. Also make sure your socket is clean and the bulb fits in securely.
If all that fails, you likely have a bad ballast or a faulty cable leading from the ballast pack to the hood. I think it's against the rules to refer you to a site that sells replacement parts, but I will say that there is at least one web site out there that sells replacement ballasts and other parts for the JBJ nano cubes.
I don't want to sound critical, but you may just consider upgrading the hood unless you only want to keep fish. The dinky light the standard model comes with really isn't any good for reefkeeping.

ok, thanks..can i buy the hood ugrade without having to get the whole tank? I will try everything u said to get the light to work..Thanks for ur time.
