Nano Cube Light Timer

Does anyone have a 2007 nano cube? I have thw 24g and I am trying to put my lights on a timer and cannot figure out how to do this. I want them to come on at a certain time and turn off at a certain time.
The hard part is I want the led's to come on when the lights turn off automatically. It appears that there is not a way to do this with a timer because when you cut power to the whole ballest the led's dont work. Has anyone had a work-around?

I have a 12 gallon and have the same problem. When I get a weekend that doesn't involve raking massive amount of leaves or putting up Xmas decorations, I'm going to rewire. I'll try to post results/directions when I do.

It doesnt matter if I leave the led's on all the time, if I plug the ballest into a timer and then the timer into the wall, when the timer shuts off the whole light assembly shuts off (including the led's)
Any way around this? Basically as it stands to have this thing on a timer, the leds will not work.

Yup. Its stupid that they have an extra switch to turn on/off the LEDs, but not a way to put a timer on that the LEDs can bypass. That's what I'm going to try and wire up, a timer that leaves the LEDs on all the time.

That is one of the pitfalls of the JBL 6, 12 and 24 gal Nano Cubes and some other cubes as well.
The lights and timers are an all in one proposition when using a timer unless you have some electrical knowledge to do a little rewiring.
The new JBL 28 gal cube addresses this issue by having two separate power cords for each of the lights.
But you'll pay for that convenience.
