For thsoe who didnt see my other posts, Ive recently baught an LED array thatI got on the bay for $288(shipping and everything). Specs:
LED whole salers
High Power WHITE + BLUE LED Aquarium Reef corals grow light
LED quantity: 119pcs x 1 Watt LED (71 White + 48 Blue)
LED configuration: BridgeLux 1w/LED
Color: White and Blue mixed, White: 14000K(14000-20000k),
Blue: 460nm
I was disappointed in the overall product, since the price would make them poorly cost effective to light up my 125 system. However I felt it will be great for a nano, so with these lights purchased, Im going to be starting my own nano as well now. Its just the excuse I needed, so Im not too bummed about getting these lights after all.
Anyways, check them out. For under $300 you can have LED's that wont need to be changed for almost a decade. Save on heat, have better color spectrum, have quiet! And at a respectable 120watts, not too shabby either.

Hear is some shots for yall:
LED alone right above the surface:
Raised to about where I would keep them if I hung them, note how the spread is better, but the cones represent where I feel I would get sufficient intensity to do corrals, camera just cant show what the human eye sees. Also notice the far end of the tank behind me, there is complete darkness:
And finally the light combined with a MH, pay attention to how the MH spreads the light much much wider:
Overall I think these lights will do great over a nano, infact AMAZING! But for larger systems, the best bet is to go with a DIY array, or something pre-made that has lenses on it.
Im now set that the money I would spend to buy 3 more of these arrays will be better spent on a DIY system that will give a much broader and more customizable coverage scheme.
These are going over a nano, its the excuse I needed to get one started. so overall Im not too bummed about these lights.
