Nano Mods - Help Please

I have a 14 gal Oceanic Bio-Cube that has been cycling for about 4 weeks now. I also purchased a Fission Nano Skimmer for it, but I have been struggling with microbubbles. My question is what type of modifications should I make. I want to take the bio-balls out and replace with LR pieces. Is there any way to get my skimmer into the first compartment to try and reduce microbubbles. What have people done with the back of their nanos?
Thanks a lot.

I was thinking of taking out the filter from the 1st compartment and instead put my skimmer in there and then take out the bio-balls in the second compartment and replace it with LR rubble and carbon bags. By putting the skimmer in the first compartment, I think it would reduce microbubbles... Let me know what you guys think or have done.
