Nano Skimmer?

Stupid question here, sorry :nervous: , but how come people don't talk about skimmers on nano tanks? Not needed?, overkill? I wandered into a fish store in china town where they had a ultra slim skimmer hooked up to a 5g, but it was some japanese brand I had never heard of.

i have checked out skimmers at the shops
and they are basicaly simple devices.
i have found that if you cut the bottom off a long water bottle (smart water brand) place a lime wood air stone at the bottom and bond a cup at the neck of the bottle you will have a skimmer. to work affectively a really good air pump is required. mine has two ports which are piped into one line. i went further and inserted another bottle ( baby bottle) top and bottom cut off intot he bottom of the main bottle. at the bottom of the main bottle i drilled large holes which act as an exhaust.
this gives you a clue on how to do it
also you can only get so much scum out of a tank at a time

If you have a good HOB filter and good waterflow in the tank a skimmer isn't needed for a nano. IMO

I use a Seaclone 100 on my 10. I've run the tank both ways & prefer skimming.
