Man...how do you guys keep your tanks at a temperature of 80 degrees? I just checked my temp. today and it was 86!! I freaked out and turned off all the lights and put the AC on....
What do you guys do to regulate your small tanks under massive lights?
I am running 2X65 watt lights and have one 10,000k 20w light and a 50/50 20w light.
Total wattage is 170......i'm just afraid i may have hurt my true clowns today. The tank is a 20gallon long.

I do all 3 of these on different nanos..
Buy a clip on fan and run it over the water.
Or, put the temperature higher so 83/84
is the normal temp so the temp doesnt swing as much.
Or Run the lights during the cool hours of the day
such as morning or night.

Built my canopy a foot high. Used 1/2 inch risers to mount the end caps. so there is air flow. Plus my ballast is remotely mounted. so the heat from the ballast is outside the hood. Hood has gaps around the base so when it overhangs the tank there is a place for air flow.
hard to explain but like this
[__________] = hood
.|~~~~~~|. = tank wall
notice how there is an overhang (the periods). Instead of being a solid lip I used wood blocks to get some extra air flow.

I don't get it. On my tank I had to get a heater to get it above 73. Now it stays at a range of 79-81 most of the time it's 80. I'm only running a 36x2 PC though, so that might be it. I'm still trying to figure out how ya'll know what you're talking about when it comes to lighting.
