Nanocube pump upgrade??

What pump is a good upgrade for the nanocube 12g dx? Is a surface skimmer a good idea also? Thanks for any info given!!

I dont have Nano cube but I have heard of people using the Maxi jet 900 as a replacement and or as a second pump. I like a surface skimmer so I say it is worth the money, but I dont know alot about the one sold for the Nano Cube.
Sorry if I am not to much help, but this is at least a bump.

I installed the maxijet 900 with the hydor flo nozzle last week......much better than stock keeps a nice flow in the tank. As far as the surface skimmer I can't tell you much besides I will be getting mine soon.

I am ordering the maxi-jet 900 for my 12 gal aquapod. I bought the protien skimmer and it worked for a little while ( about a month), but then it kept filling up with water. I couldn't get the water level right in the tank so I finally took it out.

I upgraded my nano with the maxi-jet 900 as per suggestions from this web. I found it to much water flow with a wave maker on it. I switched back to the pump it came with and put a 117gph pump in as a powerhead. I don't use a skimmer I use a poly filter pad in one of the chambers, and change it with weekly water changes.
