Napping niger???

Hey all,
My niger trigger has been "napping" a lot lately. By that I mean he finds a corner to lay down in. When I get close up to the tank he immediately gets up and swims around and looks fine. When I leave the room, he lays back down in his corner. The other fish are not picking at him (would you pick at a niger?!!), and they are leaving him alone as he rests.
My question is: Does anyone else have nigers that nap? Could there be something wrong with him? I have seen him do it before, but I just thought I'd ask since he is doing it today so much. Everytime I look at the tank from another room he is laying down.
Any thoughts/suggestions will help! Thank you!

Thanks. It's just really weird to see him doing that! I have seen him do it plenty of times, but today it seems like it's been all day. In fact he is perched in the rocks right now taking another snoozer.
Just thought something might be wrong if he was doing it this often.

As the others said all is well not to worry. Sounds like your Niger likes his tank and is not at all stressed if it naps a lot.

i think most nigars are lazy.. mine is always in his sleep hole.. he actauly stores food in it,lol.. he didnt like it when i added A piccaso trigger half his size...there doing ok now after the big trigger(niger)told him to stay away from his f!-#k'n hole by biting him the second he came to close to it..

i havent seen a trigger sleep in the middle of nowhere with no kind of cover. thats kinda odd, i thought they ALWAYS slept under, between, or inside rocks? did anyones trigger use to be shy but the more fish you added the more active it became? thats how mine was. heres a pic of my trigger and his buddies (not the first time ive posted them but im proud of my first saltwater tank):

I also have a niger trig and does the same thing naps on his or her side i think its a she cause she digs alot and from what i hear females dig a shift sand alot and mine does just that but as soon as i go to the tank or even come in the room she comes out and starts swimming so i guess it perfectly normal

THIS IS NOT A GOOD SIGN!!!!!!!!! I say this with years of keeping this fish. And with almost every type of fish their is. I have had them from 1/2" to 9 " ( with fin) never has one done this. On rare time it will hide as it is like a crosshatch and shy, but not sleep.PLEASE tell me more about the tank, fish, size of them, set up and ect. while this is not a $$ fish, it is one of the most awsome in the family, and at large sizes is one of the most graceful fish in the tank, Hardy, beauty, and temper make this a must have in any tank. And active is this fishs' middle name. :happyfish :happyfish :happyfish

I was talking with a friend, he may not be net collected. This will cause adverse affects on the fish, just like if he were ill. Se if the LFS will take him back, and just say he was not a good fit for the tank. Get credit and wait to get a fish. IMO... Sorry My budy is a >>>> of fish to LA.

How long have you had it?
If not I wouldnt worry

i dont know sharkbait ive own a few triggers and they've all tend to rest inbetween rocks and on there sides this is normal, maybe yours didnt rest cause they were being bothered or something else but if you where to take a poll i could bet u that 95% of the people would say that there triggers rest in their little places they pick out, i mean i own a pretty decent size tank 240 gal to be exact with 20% water changes every 2 weeks and all my parameters are excellent so i know its not stress. chillin is just what triggers do sometime

My friend's crosshatch locks into the rock work all the time. I would say it does it at least a few times a day. Usually the cleaner shrimp give him a scrub when he is in there. Usually he will come out if you come near the tank because he wants more food (this thing is a swimming stomach with fins). :happyfish
