nasty crab

I have a big nasty white-spotted hermit crab in my 55-gal. I just added some snails today and the crab went right for one of them. I had to fight the crab off of the snail (he was determined). My question is what should I do with him? I have a quarantine tank that I could put him in but what would I do if I need to use the QT? I would get rid of him, but my boyfriend thinks he is just the coolest thing (he is fun to watch because he is so big). Any suggestions?
What type of crabs should I get for my tank that are small, nice crabs instead of the monster crab that just keeps growing?
I would appreciate any ideas. Thanks!

White spotted hermit as probably from Dardanus family and not a reef safe. Get rid of him ASAP or he will eat wahtever he will catch and reach. Get Blue-legged or Scarlet reef hermits instead.

The crab in the picture is what I have (except mine is the size of a baseball!). I will have to figure out what to do with him, but for now he is going in the QT.
Thanks!

I had few of them in my fish setup with anemones. He never touched them, but with corals and snails it's different. He will eat them. So, yeah, he is a beautiful creature, but not in your tank:)
Cheers!!!
