natural sunlight

I am still researching before i start me reef tank. This forum is a huge help and inspiration when i see all the pics you have posted.
My next question. If my tank gets direct sunlight most part of the day, do i still need all the lights like metal halides etc.
This is a list of equipment that i have bought so far.
Via aqua 750 canister filter
via aqua 903 internal wet and dry filter
queen ts 2000 protein skimmer
3-6 mm crushed coral ( enough for a 4" bed)
am I on the right track
Still need to build the sump and refugium and trying to find out what needs to go in them

If your tank gets direct sunlight, you will most likely get alot of nuisance algae.
Also, if you are going to use crushed coral as substrate rather than a sand bed, I would say less is better. The deeper it is, the harder it will be to clean and the more waste will collect in it.
