I just noticed this sand on this site and it is a lot cheaper than the Keys live sand. Has anyone ever tried this Nature's Ocean stuff? Is it any good?

i'm sure he'll love it, but is this going to be a fish only tank? if is going to be Reef then i don't recommend that fish. beause you want to avoid disturbing the sand. and also he will Munch on the sandbed fauna.

Ya its gonna be a reef. How many 40lb bags will I need in order to get a 3-4 inch sandbed?

go into the livesand calculator that this site has. its under live sand. he's going to need a least 3" of sand.

Put some pieces of PVC pipe underneath your rock as a base and then your jawfish and other sand lovers can burrow all they want. The PVC keeps the reef stable and undisturbed.
You can see mine in this pic of my first attempt at aquascaping. It's the white stuff poking out of the sand inside the curve of the rocks.
