i know lots of you will say that its the picture taker that decides how good the picture is but camera's have limitations so.....what would be a good camera that has a nice big zoom and has good macro modes.also something that i can use for taking pictures out side of the tank.
right now i have a fujifilm finepix 2600z with 3x optical zoom
thanks

I have the Fugi finepix S7000. I got it specifically for the macro shots. And the zoom is awesome...6 x optical and 3.2 x digital, can't get a good shot of the moon though...
Here's a hydroid shot I took...

And I could blow it up to the size of a poster and it would still be clear...
OK, I'm done. Good luck shopping though, I hated doing it!!

yellow tail go look in the DIY section. Theres a question for you. I'm assuming the flash is the same bcuz on mine u just flip the top thingy up and u get flash. u can also pukk back this little card thing to get more flash.

tizzo,
is ther a mode to turn flash on and off?

Sorry it took so long to reply, I forget where I've been...
Yeah, it has a flash choice. But in the super macro mode, you can not use flash. The cam is way to close to the target (literally within a half inch) But in macro and normal, you can use flash.

OK, lemme try to answer this because I don't know hardly anything about camera lingo...
As far as quality, I have 6 options and the better option that I choose, the less pics I can store on one card. For example my card is a 128mb xd-picture card, if I choose the "grainiest" setting (that one you cannot blow up without pixelation.) But that setting is 1m with that I get 239 pics. 2m gives me 178 pics. 3m gives me 144 and 6m which is what I use for my supermacro shots will only give me 73 pics. You can change back and forth, it's only one button click. But I have the macro button, like any camera and it will take a pic between like 3 to 12 inches. But if you want to get as close as you possibly can, like a half inch then I hit the macro button 2 times and it goes to "super macro" you are to close for flash to be effective so it won't work. As far as mm's I don't know, but I'll show you the box and you can see what you find...

The highest resolution pics are 2848x2136 pixels. So you hafta resize them to post them. The info isn't real clear so I'll try to get you another shot...
