OK, lemme try to answer this because I don't know hardly anything about camera lingo...
As far as quality, I have 6 options and the better option that I choose, the less pics I can store on one card. For example my card is a 128mb xd-picture card, if I choose the "grainiest" setting (that one you cannot blow up without pixelation.) But that setting is 1m with that I get 239 pics. 2m gives me 178 pics. 3m gives me 144 and 6m which is what I use for my supermacro shots will only give me 73 pics. You can change back and forth, it's only one button click. But I have the macro button, like any camera and it will take a pic between like 3 to 12 inches. But if you want to get as close as you possibly can, like a half inch then I hit the macro button 2 times and it goes to "super macro" you are to close for flash to be effective so it won't work.
