I'd like to know the answer to this, as my coral beauty resently died too, had this white sore on its side. It did kinda waste away, got inflamed gills towards the end. It seemed like it wanted to eat, but wouldn't.

TerryB...ty for your response.....I'll try to provide a better description
sore is on the lower/middle side..there is only one so far..it looks white and rather fleshy(as if it was a open wound)..approximately 1/2 the size of a normal pencil eraser...appears swollen and is irregular shaped...this morning the lights are not on yet...but it does appear to be in good condition still............early morn lights are on(30 watts no) and it seems to be taking its normal early mornin stroll.........hope this all provides enough info to help ya help my coral beauty.......

In my case, it looked like scales were missing. No fungus or growth like occurring. I thought, perhaps, the beginning of HLLE [since both my tangs had/have this], but HLLE wouldn't kill the angel off that quickly. In my fish, the diseased area was about the same size as NM's, more in the middle section of side of body. I have no heater, so it couldn't have been that.
Gills were swollen and reddish, eventually, towards the end before he died. I looked with a magnifying glass and could see no parasites. No fighting going on that I could see.

sincerely appreciate the quick responses from each of you...never posted in disease...never really needed to.....
current status is much better I'm glad to say
last night after my last post I treated with garlic(figured it couldn't hurt and may boost immune system)
this morning the sore area seemed somewhat improved
this afternoon I'm glad to report that the open wound seems to be receding drastically
now appears to be no more than a white blotch.....does not appear to be infected or near as serious right now
did treat with garlic again this morning.....very glad that this MAY not be ick(really proud of the progress on this my 1st ever sw system) and really did not want to deal with a serious set back such as ick
as for the wrasse.......none of the current critters have ever been seen picking at or in any way bothering each other('cept for some mild aggression from some of the crabs)...may be a sting from one of the corals.....much better than a ick out break.....but I gotta tell ya I was worried.......and not by any stretch of the imagination ready to deal with parasites.....again....thank each of you very much//////
any future problems with this topic.....or any others that arise.....it is a gr8 relief to KNOW....that there is a resource that cares and will respond.....ty...ty very much ;) :)

Just a little follow up.....coral beauty is still in decent shape....eating and acting normal......sore/wound seems to be healing but still appears as a white blotch.......not open but just a much lighter area......does not seem to be bothering it but still concerns me very much.........place is approx the size of a eraser......white and iregular shaped.......did apear to be a sore or wound.....but now is just lighter in color........

Final post on this thread.....and I'm glad to say its good news.......just got thru checkin my beauty out....and there is only a faint trace of the sore(suspect it was a coral sting).....treated with garlic every other day.....and fed as normal....no other fish picked at it that I ever saw....and no sigh of problems with any of the other friends in the ree
except that I fear my dragon goby ran away from home
I can not find him or his carcass ANYWHERE.....
man its always something huh
any how...thanks to each of you for responding to the problem with my coral beauty.....I love this critter and I waited 6 months before gettin one and I was sooooooo scared it was goin to bite the big one........glad to say its alive and apparently well....for now
