Can you post your water parameters?
What kind of rock?
Are you using RO water?
Fish?
If so, what type and what are they being fed? How often?
Lighting?
How often do you do water changes ?

You have nothing in there to clean. I'd rev mend an urchin. The eel will leave that alone.
Are there lights on the tank?
Eels shouldn't be fed daily unless you want them To grow extremely fast. I only fed mine every 3days. If it doesn't eat, do you remove the food?
Are you using RO?
Increase water changes, don't wait so long in between.

PM Seith he mentioned using peroxide to kill hair algae.
It didn't work for me.
If its bryopsis hair algae, dosing higher mag makes it go away

using hydrogen peroxide is sometimes hit and miss. About a 90% success rate with it for most people. Some algaes don't respond to it at all. Kent's magnesium, however, does have a very good success rate at 1600ppm for a few weeks.

The magnesium will only work for bryopsis hair algae , it does very little for the generic species.

Bryopsis has a little differeny looking texture than hair algae. I find it looks a little more dark green as well. If it grows in patches wnd only in a couple of spots and doesnt spread like wildfire, its most likely bryopsis. It generally feeds on phosphates left by dead organisms within the live rock that has died in the curing process. (Both overseas and here and in your tank)

Then I had the generic type. I wiped it off of the glass and my new emerald and Mexican turbo took care the rest. If you let your clean crew die off without replacing them guess what, algae grows. I let the crew up crew die off in my FOWLR hoping for algae to grow but all mt tangs make sure it doesn't grow.
