Need advice of canister filters please....

Sorry for the noob question but i need advice please. I am looking into buying a canister filter for a 75 gal tank. I have done google research and things like that but am still lost. I need to know what to look for in a filter, what brands are better then others, is an UV sterilizer necessary. I want to spend less then $300 please. Please help me. Thanks

I used a Cascade, a little larger for the tank size (I just do that) cost under $100.00...3 years ago. It has three chambers for media...came with some to start.
I still use this canister along with another one for my 90g...the 1 rated for 100g worked great with my 75g.
No... you do not need a UV light...those lights help a wee bit with hair algae, but kills good night swimming critters. So if you ever do get one...turn it off at night. Never get one that is a part of your filter...get a stand alone one, so you can control when you want it to run without interfering with your filter.
