well i have had a 20gal set up for over 2 months now. and i have decided to turn my 72gal that is rotting away into a FOWLR(which i didnt have the money to set up at the time).
i was wondering if it would be wise to take everything from my 20gal and put it in the 72 gal while adding some more cured live rock and base sand. and i suppose turn my 20 gal into a QT.
i have 2 clowns and a chocolate chip star, not that much of a hassle to move right? (well of course not till the 72 gallon is established well enough.)
also is this good equipment for a 72gal?
-fluval canister, 304 i think.
-aquaC remora skimmer
-a few powerhead.
-and may maybe a HOB filter for more filtration if needed.
any tip tricks on how to move everything over?

i went from a 90 to a 120, it was an easy move just adding more cured rock and new sand. Once the 120 was setup with salt and temp i moved the old rock from 90 over.
for you, i would setup the 72 like it is a brand new tank, not moving anything from the 20. Buy all new filters and rock. Once it is setup/cycled, then just move your fish. The reason for this is, now you have a perfect QT tank already setup (your 20g)

I just moved my 29gal into a 75gal. Bought 50lbs of live rock and 40lbs of dry sand and 20lbs of live sand. Mixed up some salt, checked the temp and moved everything over in a day or two. After that I broke down my 29gal and moved the rest of that live rock over. I had minor ammonia and Nitrate spikes but I think that may have been because I was over feeding since I had a lot more real estate to work with.
Good luck!
