My euro bracing broke on the back side of my tank
(3/8" acrylic 44x30x17) It is bowing out about 1" as apposed to the front were the bracing is still intact and is bowing about 1/2". Does anyone have any ideas for a fix to this issue?

Sorry, I wish I could help you but I figured that I could give you a bump. Have you contacted the manufacture of the tank? Good luck.

youll need to get it resecured there is acrlyic cement that you can get from anywhere that sell acrylic. youll need to drain the tank down to a point were it will go back into place though.

I made the tank so I have the glue. But that takes time to cure out to full strength and I nave no where to put my livestock while that occurs.

And if I do glue a new piece on how do I stop the bowing while it is curing? I really need help with this!!

if you have the c claps type things might work.
I would seriously think of a temp home for everything weither it be a rubbermaid tube from wal-mart or several of them to get it fixed then reload the tank once its secure again.
most cement glues are almost immediate that you can get from the glass companies so you might talk to them and see if there is a faster acting cement that you can use on it.

Thanks for your help Mike. I have Weld on 40 which is a superior adhesive for acrylic, it hardens quick too. I wish I could put my livestock in something else but I do not have any place in my house with my 4 cats that is safe. I think I may drain it down a bit and glue the piece back on and then glue a cross section for added strength. I can use blue tape to hold it fairly tight. I will just run power heads for approx. 24 hrs then refill. It is only the top that is bowing so this should work, I hope. Thanks again.

I once had an 80 gallon tank with a glass brace between the front that the back. It cracked in two and the front and back sides were bowing. I took adjustable clamps (google the term) that were long enough to reach all the way front and back of the tank to hold the tank from further bowing. Then, I cut the glass out (which was held in with silicone), and glued a new piece of glass in place. Once I was done, and the silicone was completely dry, I removed the clamps.

those are the clamps I was thinking of just couldnt remember the exact name for them.
how long does it take for the weld to set?
if its only a day or so you could still use the rubbermaid bucket trick with a board or something on top of it to keep the cats out. I have the same problem with dogs LOL the think anything on the floor is theirs. LOL
I wish you luck on fixing it though you might try to take some pics and do a how to thread on how you fixed it so it may help someone else with the same problem.

Your responses are really appreciated! I definitely will let you know how I do fix it. I am also dealing with problems with my right arm and I am scheduled for physical therapy. But I have to attend to this issue ASAP.
The other issue about moving my livestock is my LTA. I do not want to have to move this monster. Hopefully I can drain partially glue and clamp and use powerheads for the 24 hr cure time. Thanks again.

Well it is fixed! I used adjustable clamps after draining some water. So I did not have pressure points I used a strip of acrylic, still covered with the paper so it did not scratch, under the clamps for even pressure. I also glued a center brace just to be on the safe side. I let it cure for about 24 hrs. (just ran powerheads and heater) turned out very well. Thanks for all of your help!!
