Need Digital SLR suggestion

Ok, with everything comes price versus quality. Knowing that let me qualify some of my needs and limitations.
I will probably never be a professional photographer. I do not have unlimited resources. I will probably only use this camera to take some pics of my tank, corals, and the vacation with the kids. Oh yeah and the park with the ducks.

Now with that... What do you think would be a quality camera. I would probably pay in the price range of around $400.00 but if the package deal was there and would help with the overall cost would and could go higher. Now if you know of a camera that would do all of that and would cost less then hooorayyyyy!
I really want to get the macro shots down and I know its gonna take some learning on this to do so but I can put the time in. So what do you think??

Nikon D40 or D3000 are both great beginner DSLRs. You can find great deals for used also. I had a D40, upgraded to a D90 and loved both.

My Vote is for the canon T1i, it also does 1080p hd video and is nice and lightweight. For a package deal about 750.

I would recommend a Canon 7D but that's way out of the stated budget. Whatever you get, make sure it's capable of shooting in RAW mode, that leaves much more room for error and will allow you to correct the white balance to get accurate colors. Cameras typically don't like tank lighting and don't get it right.
