need extra heater

hello, i have a sump under my tank w/the heater in it and the sensor part i guess is int the tank (90 gals). but the tank is not staying warm engouh. could i need to run an extra heater in the tank because i dont heat my home (ohio) and would that cause conflicks w/the one running in the sump. i have the one in the sump turned up to 89+ but the tank is still only hitting 70

But just by what you are saying, i would say the heater you have is to small for your system, the ambiant tempature of your house would cool your tank faster then your heater can heat it!

i dont know how many watts it is, the guy that had the tank before me bought it im sure it is adquate for the tank size, not sure of the brand. yes please to the spell checker LOL :joy:

Purchase a second heater that is capable of heating that tank by itself. Then run both of them. Make sure you invest in a quality heater that is accurate to avoid over heating. If you have a built-in overflow you can place one of the heaters in there and leave the other in the sump.

Its always a good idea to run two heaters anyway, then you have a backup if one dies on you. As long as the thermostats are set, you wont overheat.
