Ok new tank for me that me and another guy had moved. Anemone has been moving around the tank ever since. Not on the rocks but on the walls. Seemed to start moving after I added some metaflex (sp) b/c the clownfish had rubbed up against something and had a nice gash on its side. Well ever since the Anemone has been moving, and now it has somehow found its way over the overflow. The only way I can think of it gettingin there is up and over the acrylic b/c it would not fit in the overflow holes. Well I tried to lift it up and bring it back into the tank but it wont budge and I dont want to force it. It is just hanging on the side wall in the overflow. Anything I can do?

What is it a BTA?
As long as its on a flat surface it shouldn't be too hard to remove, just use an old credit card or even your thumb nail to GENTLY peal a bit at a time off of the glass/acrylic.
Examine your turnover rate and see if it needs improvement.
You can even point a power head his way to convince him to move on, but watch out that he doesn't go for the power head. Also an ice cube in a plastic bag can convince him to move away fro there, or help remove him.
The same thing happens to me almost monthly. One rock on the right side of my tank has an entire colony of BTA's on it. When one splits they now crawl right up near my maxi jet power head almost right above them. I scrape it off and take it to the LFS.

Thanks Thomas I will try that tomorrow when I get back home. By the way how is Midland? I used to live there around 97-98 for a year. Still a lot of good friends up there.

Thomas, I have helped in dams project and we installed a new sump/fuge system and boosted the flow rate through the tank. Basically went from a mag5 to a mag 18 (had to cut back on the 18) but flow rate is 800-900 gph through the tank plus 3 MJ 900. Total flow is probably only 12x. Anyway would this upset the anemone to the point of being uncomfortable in the tank and it just can't find a place to settle? I have been over there several times and its always on the move, kinda cool but I don't get it?
Thanks
Tim

I think that turnover rate should be fine, but its not up to me of course, its up to the anemone, I would think that he would find a nice spot though. I have a MJ1200 above my huge colony of anemones and except for over crowding that is where the majority like to be.

Got him out of there with the credit card thanks. Put him back on top of the rocks and after about a half hour opened back up and the clowns were happily swimming. Looked this morning and he's hanginf off the side of the glass and underneath rocks. Looks like some of his tentacles are a greenish color, what does that mean?

What color is the BTA normally? I've seen mine go from a dark green to tan/brown.

Normal zooxanthellae is tan/brown/green in anemones, with variations. If yours is getting darker in color then perhaps it is simply regaining some lost zooxanthellae. It doesn't sound like a problem.
