hey everyone. my father wants to put a nano in his office, i was wondering what would be the best way to go. i will put coral in his tank, anything with a lot of colors so his coworkers will stop and stare. i was thinking anything from 6-14 gallons..any suggesstions?
stock list would be-
-pair of helfrichi firefish - is tank too small for this? i have heard of ppl housing HF in nano tanks..
-ricordias, mushrooms, zoas, frogspawn/torch coral, acans..
-maybe a pistol shrimp yasha goby combo

Aquapod, Biocube, and Nanocube are the big three of nano tanks.
Not sure if you can keep two firefish. May be some aggression issues there.
Other than that, make sure you get the lighting to support your corals.

hey thanks. thats why i was asking about which tank would work best with the listed corals. looks like i may have to mod the hood if anything..i might just try to see if a 24NC will fit on his desk, MH will work really nice for him, but i am a bit worried about heat issues.. As for firefish, i had a pair in my other tank, they were fine. A buddy of mine has a trio of purples, they look great.
anyone else?

I have most of those corals in my Biocube 14. Everything is nice and healthy. As for the fish, I don't know how large a tank firefish require. I have a small ocellaris in mine along with a sixline wrasse.

6-14g is not a tank, its a toilet.
unless this tank has daily attention, bad things will happen to it.
just bite the bullet and get a 50g,.
Water quality will be much easier to maintain.
a 6g tank is for a bedroom where you do not have to worry about coworkers staring into it.

True that, more water makes it much easier to maintian quality...
As for size, how much room do you have and how big is your budget?

Um, not true. Your opinion is a outdated.
The nano tanks today are great starter tanks. As long as they are properly setup, they can be run with minimal maintenance.
The only time I touch my 12g is once a week for pH/alk testing, and biweekly water changes and maintenance.

I agree, my Biocube 14 is not difficult to maintain in the least. I run a fuge in the back chambers and plenty of live rock and my levels are always stable. Just don't overstock and it is easy(ish.)
