Hi all, I have finished cycling my 110 gal tank and added 220 pouns (100 kilograms) of Live rock. Everything was fine and i transfered all my fish from the old tank to the new one. Yesterday (4 days after adding the live rocks) i found out that Ammonia and Nitrite levels are went up and in the evening the water became cloudy. I added the ammonia remover and it didn't help. Today i replaced about 25% of water, added CYCLE bacteria, took out 3 of the fishes to the small tank (the rest i cannot catch), but still i have a high readings(Ammonia 0,5 Nitrite 0,5) and the water is still cloudy, but less. The guy that brought me the live rocks told me that the rocks are cured. (I don't thiks so now!) Equipment description: Sump about 30 gal, 2 protein skimmers, carbon filter. Fish: 2 small clouns, Yellow tang, domino damsel, 2 carpet anemones, crab, Boxer shrimp. Lipstick tang, coral beauty, regal tang(big one)- this three i put to a small tank( about 3 gallons). What can i do? Please HELP!!!

Hey,
Did the lr smell like the ocean? Nice and clean, or did it smell bad? That's the easiest way to tell if it was finished curing. Anyway, it does sound like your tank is cycling again and at this point all you can do is damage control. I would replace the carbon in your filter and run that for about 48 hours. (I don't believe in useing carbon 24/7.) I would also do several more water changes. Probably 25% right away and then again tomorrow. All you are trying to do is keep your fish and anemones alive while your tank cycles. You will be slowing down the cycle process by doing the water changes, but I don't think you have much choice unless you can remove all the fish and anemones. Good luck!

the smell from the lr was like ocean, the cloudness is gone, shrimps are dead and water smells not so good. I gave my blue tang, naso and coral beuaty to my friend. Can the anemones survive, because i have nowhere to move them? How long time can this process take? Is there some chemical i can add to lower the ammonia. Ammonia level is about 1ppm even more.

even adding that much lr that is cured at one time will cause large amonia and nitrite levels will go up

Hey,
Well, the problem is if you let the cycle process procede without any interference it will last about 10 days to 2 weeks. (Rough guess.) However, if you want to keep your anemones alive you will have to keep doing water changes to keep the nitrates and ammonia down. If you do water changes the cycle process lasts longer. I know Kent's makes an Ammonia Detox additive but I think that will just artificially lower the ammonia and your tank will not finish cycling. As soon as you stop using it I think your tank will cycle again. Unless you can find a place for your anemones to stay for a couple weeks I think you're stuck.
Maybe your lfs will hold them for you???
Good luck.
