How long is a typical writing?

I do very little writing, besides marking flight progress strips.
Occasionaly write training reports. Read by supervisors and training dept. Usually a few paragraphs per report.

Well not sure if this helps because I have been downsized (Out of work), but here goes.

Depends on what it is. Either from 1 to 20.
e-mails, Company policies, Work Bench Instructions (Production procedures), Reports to Govt. agencies.
Coworkers, production supersiors, production manager, Director of the Co., Govt inspectors, production workers.
e-mails 1 page, Company policies 3 pages, Work Bench instructions 8 pages. Reports to Govt agencies 5 pages.
Just so that you know I have found there is a difference in how you write for the intended audience. For instance for a govt. report I will use the word promulgate. For the production workers I will say they passed a law.

H58, I know exactly what you mean. I was the facility supervisor for a number of years, so I ran the maintenance dept. I had to translate for the guys what the engineers wanted built. Sometimes pretty scary. Such as one time an engineer wanted to use a ping pong ball for a check valve.
Fortunatley I have the nuts and bolts sense that others are missing. (But try telling my wife that.)
