Any experienced 12 volt installers here? Have a question concerning accessing a wire for a navigation system.

I checked all wires at the cluster... ecm should have it, but I can't find the color in any vss database. It would take me forever to check all the wires at the ecm. There has got to be a better place than the transmission to grab that wire. Any clue?

Yeah, I agree. It's not for me. I mean, it is for me because I'm doing the job, it's for a customer of mine.

yeah sorry man, i looked to see if i could find the wiring diagrams for a colorado but couldn't. i'm assuming that it would be fine if you hooked it into the ignition wire, just like you would an amplifier for a car stereo. i didn't realize you were looking for specifics. crutchfield has all that info but i'm assuming that if you didn't purchase it from them they may not be willing to give you the diagrams. good luck!

:notsure: Sorry, man... don't take this the wrong way, but I was actually serious about the experienced installer part. This is actually for a job that I am doing for a customer. I mean, I consider myself an experienced installer; I have been doing car electronics for about 15 years. I need the vehicle speed sense wire for a navigation system install in a brand new colorado. I have access to a handful of vss databases that actually provide the vss information for almost any car. But for some reason, I can't find one that has it for that truck. I was hoping someone who may have done one would respond, just by chance, or maybe a good car tech that works for GM. I have tried tech support from most major manufacturers of security and navigation, and nobody has it. Crutchfield wouldn't have that info available. They get their information from the manufacturers as well. Even if the signal is multiplexed, there has got to be a chink in the armor somewhere. Anyone? Oh, Greg, you should never connect a car amp to the ignition wire(s). Even a cheap amp should go right to the battery.

i realized after you posted the actual problem that you were looking for guidance from someone who has experience, but i thought it wouldn't hurt to ask since your initial post revealed nothing about the situation you were in. sorry i couldn't help, good luck.
