well last yr I moved my fish 5 hrs drive .the best way I have found that worked for me is transport as much of the tank water as possible.large coolers 40 gal rubbermaid trash cans , tubs ,ect.to move the fish I used coolers and rubber tubs with tight fitting lids(i also moved eels)purchased battery opperated air pumps. these can be purched at meijers, k mart, fish stores. ect.about 8 bucks each I ran the air hoses through small holes in the lids.this will make transport much less stressful on you and your fish and give plenty of time to set up the tank in a new home without the worry of lack of air.i have used this method many times with no losses.hope this helps
